Dave MacDonald has been involved with the club almost since its inception. Having grown up in Victoria and skating here from the start, he's been the veteran and savvy, friendly guy that many identify with the club. He says that Juan de Fuca is "a great place to learn both recreational and for competitive skating," and he injects that into his lessons.
After his competitive years, as a Novice Men's Canadians level competitor, Dave spent 5 years with the Ice Capades. He has over 30 years of coaching experience, holds Gold Dance and Canadian and American 7th Figure Tests, and holds Level II NCCP/ISPC coaching certification.
Experience at various competitive and test levels for Dave's students runs the gamut from CanSkate to Senior competitive test and all competitive levels. He has a multitude of experience from seminars, workshops, and conferences over the years.
The rink has been his focus, but his interests outside skating include family, gardening, and boating.
Having had many successful competitors throughout the years, he is still part of the CanSkate sessions, imparting his great wealth of experience, even at the beginner level.
Dave additionally co-operates the JDF Summer Program.
